About this Episode

Tensions in the Middle East escalated as U.S. President Donald Trump announced renewed attacks on Iran following a series of strikes and missile exchanges between the two nations. Trump accused Iranian negotiators of stalling peace talks, stating that Iran “will have to pay the price” for their delays. This warning came after the U.S. launched airstrikes in response to Iranian missile attacks targeting Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, with claims of significant damage to military facilities. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had targeted multiple sites in retaliation, intensifying hostilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed the use of Ukrainian-made Flamingo missiles to strike a Russian military facility, targeting a plant that supplies components for drones and missiles used by Russian forces. This attack is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to hit deep inside Russia in retaliation for ongoing assaults on Ukrainian territory, and to pressure the Kremlin for direct negotiations. The strike not only aimed at disrupting military supply lines but also included attacks on an oil refinery in Samara and two other oil facilities in the Vladimir region. The Flamingo missile, capable of reaching targets up to 3,000 kilometers away, represents a significant advancement in Ukraine’s missile capabilities and efforts to enhance its defense systems amid the ongoing conflict.

A mass shooting occurred overnight in an informal settlement near Johannesburg, South Africa, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals, including eight men and three women. The attack, which involved approximately ten assailants, is suspected to be linked to competition over illegal mining activities in the area. Witnesses reported that the gunmen entered the settlement from both entrances, opening fire on residents at multiple locations before fleeing the scene
