About this Episode

Two residents, Elisabeth Trocheris and Abdessamad Taqui, remain committed to their humanitarian mission as part of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza, despite a recent incident where another participant, Gildo Molinari, returned home after being detained by Israeli forces. The flotilla, which includes more than 50 vessels from various European cities, aims to break the blockade on Gaza by delivering essential supplies. Molinari, an Italian photographer residing in Luxembourg, described his nightmarish experience aboard an Israeli vessel following the interception, denouncing the conditions as inhumane. Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel has criticized Israel’s actions, emphasizing the need to respect international law while the flotilla continues its mission.

The European School in Luxembourg was closed yesterday due to the discovery of concerning graffiti that allegedly included a threat of a shooting. Police responded to the situation, and armed officers were present on-site. Authorities opened an investigation and identified a minor as a suspect. School director Martin Wedel confirmed that the graffiti was found last Thursday, prompting engagement with national authorities and police. The decision to close the school was made as a precaution amid the circulation of alarming messages, though classes are expected to resume today. The public prosecutor emphasized that making false threats can lead to serious legal consequences, including imprisonment. The school is also offering psychological support to students and staff following the incident.

The restaurant Le Lys has been awarded a Michelin star just weeks before celebrating its first anniversary, marking a significant achievement for head chef Kim de Dood. This award raises the total number of Michelin-starred establishments in the country to 12, while the other starred restaurants remain unchanged from the previous year. The Michelin Guide praised De Dood’s “sincere, refined cuisine” that blends regional traditions with Asian influences. During the award ceremony, De Dood expressed gratitude for the recognition of his team’s hard work. Another restaurant, La Cristallerie, attended the event but did not receive a star, despite being included in the guide.
