The city of Rome is offering free film screenings in 11 air-conditioned cinemas to help residents cope with extreme summer temperatures. The programme runs until 4 August, with films shown daily between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Admission is subject to availability.

The initiative expands Rome’s network of cooling spaces, which also includes libraries and museums. Cultural venues provide cool indoor areas, seating and activities while helping people avoid isolation. They offer protection from the heat without feeling like emergency shelters and give people who may not have air conditioning at home free access to cultural activities.
