About this Episode
The Labour and Mines Inspectorate approved nearly 150 exemption requests allowing around 750 employees to work during Luxembourg’s compulsory summer congé collectif. Most approvals concern urgent repairs, maintenance and factory refurbishment in the construction and civil-engineering sectors. The ITM will conduct inspections throughout the summer and may stop unauthorised work.
Rental costs increased during the second quarter of the year. According to real estate website atHome, the average monthly rent for an apartment rose above €1,900, while the average rent for a house reached almost €3,700. Rents increased across most regions, although property sale prices declined, particularly for newly built apartments in Luxembourg City.
MeteoLux has warned that a fourth heatwave will bring higher temperatures across Luxembourg this week. A yellow heat warning is in place for the south today, with temperatures forecast to reach 35°C tomorrow and 36°C on Thursday. The hot weather is expected to continue into the weekend, with only limited rainfall. MeteoLux warns that prolonged outdoor activity could cause fatigue and exhaustion.
