About this Episode
The Red Cross has launched an affordable housing project in Niederkorn. The initiative includes eight houses and 33 flats for families and individuals facing housing and social difficulties. Six houses are already occupied. The remaining work should finish by the end of the year. Around 100 people and families remain on the waiting list. The organisation plans to expand housing projects further as part of its 2030 strategy.
Doctors say they will continue treating undocumented migrants, even if future European Union rules require reporting them to authorities. The proposed law, backed by EU lawmakers in March, would introduce measures to identify irregular migrants. Medical groups, including Médecins du Monde, warned the plan could undermine healthcare access and public health. Doctors said migrants may avoid treatment out of fear.
Film industry professionals voiced concern at the Cannes Film Festival over growing financial pressure and uncertainty about the sector’s future. Producers, technicians and actors warned that funding limits are forcing experienced workers out of the industry. Culture Minister Eric Thill said film funding rules are being revised to direct more state support toward work carried out in Luxembourg.
