The Chamber of Commerce has launched the “Luxembourg Spouse Programme” to help partners of newly arrived skilled workers enter the labour market. Orientation sessions are set for 29 September in person and 2 October online, covering the economy, job market and local support. Participants then select tailored pathways — including a “Pathway to Work” with the House of Training and Adem and a “Pathway to Entrepreneurship” via the House of Entrepreneurship — plus options for training, community integration and practical planning. The scheme, developed with the ministries of economy and labour, aims to boost retention of international talent. Registration is open on the Chamber of Commerce website.
Analysis of samples from four calf carcasses found in May in northern Luxembourg’s Oesling region shows no evidence of wolf activity, the Nature and Forest Agency told MPs. Farmers had suspected wolf attacks after the deaths between Brachtenbach and Eschweiler, and the agency submitted samples for testing. While most results ruled out wolves, one carcass could not definitively exclude wolf involvement; the affected farmer received 75% compensation under existing rules. The agency communicated its findings to parliament following questions from DP and LSAP deputies.
Employment agency ADEM reports a rise in jobseekers compared with last year, with the largest increases among qualified workers and young people. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is steady at around 6.3%. While new resident registrations dipped slightly, more people are benefiting from employment support measures. Non-resident registrations and participation in external retraining programmes have also grown. Employers declared noticeably more vacant positions, with strong demand in IT, paramedical care, social and educational services, construction and related fields. ADEM says the labour market shows both rising job supply and increasing numbers seeking work, underlining continued shifts in skills needs and support services.
