Findel airport is expected to welcome about 1.2 million passengers this summer as part of a record year projected at 5.7 million travellers, Lux‑Airport CEO Alexander Flassak said, warning that the single runway had become more sensitive to small disruptions. Differdange became the first municipality to lay biochar‑enriched asphalt, compacting 200 tonnes over 1,650 m² of Rue de l’Hôpital as a pilot to sequester about six tonnes of carbon. the trial, run with the BAU Foundation and asphalt specialist Julien Cajot as part of the town’s NetZeroCities push to reach carbon neutrality by 2030, will monitor performance under traffic over two, four and five years. It should cost about 2–3% more than conventional asphalt for the biochar component, and could be scaled up across the network if results prove satisfactory.
