We celebrate this special episode of Afrikulture Mix with a theme “Celebrating African Women”; as it falls on a significant date March 8 2025, set aside for the celebration of International Women’s Day. In the discussion, Four Women from African Countries: Muriel from Cameroon, Sisca from Burundi, Nelitie from Ivory Coast and Host Hembadoon from Nigeria, share thoughts on varying topics considered in the theme for this year’s IWD celebration worldwide.

The United Nations Women theme for the 2026 IWD is “Right. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls“. On the their website, they share that women only have 64% of the legal rights that men hold worldwide in fundamental areas including work, money, safety, family, property, mobility, business and retirement. In view for the year, the “Give to Gain” campaign will champion all the causes, events and support that organizations participate in for women around the world.

Earlier in the week on the Nubian Lounge, Nelitie Zingoua Kouadio spoke to us as a lawyer, about these legal rights that women do not fully enjoy worldwide. On this episode, we expand the conversation with guests Muriel Abogo Ze and Francisca Ntimpirangeza in celebration of African Women worldwide, touching on core topics like our identity, work, finances and retirement. We discuss about what it feels like to be such a highly marginalized group and to thrive despite our limitations. In the course of the conversation, we raise the concerns for the younger generation of African Women, and how we can make a better world where their legal rights are more balanced.
