Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Iryna Mudra, a deputy chief of staff, after media reports said her home was searched in a probe into an alleged money‑laundering scheme. The firing comes amid a widening anti‑corruption investigation by Ukraine’s Nabu agency, which says high‑ranking presidential office officials, MPs and bank executives are linked to a scheme that laundered about 150 million hryvnias to post bail for a former energy minister. The crisis has prompted former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov to call for a wartime presidential election, accusing Zelenskyy of a systemic governance failure. Zelenskyy has largely stayed silent, while parliament confirmed Fedorov’s replacement and the president highlighted housing awards for veterans.
Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended from tennis after a positive cocaine test. A sample taken at the Mallorca Open on June 22 contained benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite. The International Tennis Integrity Agency imposed an external provisional suspension from August 4. Kyrgios has admitted making “a huge mistake,” accepted responsibility and said he will step back from public life for 28 days. He may face up to four years’ ban, though proving use occurred outside competition would limit that to three months. The 31‑year‑old has struggled with injuries this year and has not appealed the suspension to date; he is barred from playing, coaching at or attending tour events while the tribunal proceeds.
