Tehran also called for the removal of the US naval blockade around the Strait of Hormuz and rejected demands to dismantle its nuclear facilities or fully stop uranium enrichment. Instead, Iran proposed a temporary pause in enrichment activities and a partial reduction of its highly enriched uranium stockpile. Iran also insisted that any future agreement must recognise its right to enrich uranium. US President Donald Trump called the response “totally unacceptable”.
