About this Episode

Luxair has announced that  388 citizens are stranded in Dubai after escalating conflict in the Gulf forced widespread airspace closures. Flights between Luxembourg and Dubai are suspended until at least 8 March, with hotel accommodation arranged for affected travellers and flexible rebooking or refunds offered. The disruption follows US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliation. Meanwhile, Lufthansa has halted several Middle East routes and is avoiding regional airspace, while Cargolux has also suspended flights to the region.

The public European schools are facing renewed criticism from teaching unions, which question their academic standards and expansion plans. The Fédus and SEW-OGBL unions argued that near-100% pass rates and weaker results in some core subjects suggest structural weaknesses, and warned that creating a parallel system risks making traditional public schools less attractive. Gérard Zens, director of the International School of Differdange and Esch-sur-Alzette, rejected the claims, saying European Baccalaureate students meet high standards and succeed in higher education. Unions are also concerned about limited Luxembourgish teaching and the potential impact on social cohesion.

40% of employees return home stressed each day, while only 11% feel fully relaxed, according to a a recent survey. Stress levels vary by sector and workload, with toxic environments and demanding managers worsening the pressure. Respondents suggested simple coping strategies, such as planning the next day before leaving, exercising, or disconnecting from work screens. Luxembourg’s labour code also guarantees a right to disconnect, though experts stress that lasting balance depends on setting clear personal boundaries.
