The government said it would publish a practical “Let’s prepare” crisis guide in September or October and introduce a “resilience bonus” for public infrastructure after an Ilres survey found residents feared cyberattacks, flooding and extreme weather. The guide will list steps households should take to be self‑sufficient for 72 hours, and the bonus will encourage designing public buildings to double as emergency shelters with kitchens and camp beds.
Police and the public prosecutor warned of a growing online phenomenon—described as “extremist violent nihilism”—in which perpetrators groom and blackmail children and adolescents (mainly 8–17) into committing violent acts, self‑harm or suicide, often filming and sharing the abuse. Authorities said they had received initial reports, lacked some legal tools to act, had submitted a draft bill to the Justice Ministry, and were coordinating with Europol, youth‑protection groups and psychiatry services while urging parents to monitor children’s online activity and to report suspicious incidents.
The Fonds du logement completed 116 homes in 2025 (up from 106 in 2024) but faced over 7,000 rental applications, forcing it to scale up. Projects in Dudelange and Wiltz and other pipelines lifted units under construction from more than 600 in 2024 to above 1,200 last year, and the fund set a target to deliver 200–250 homes annually this year. The fund maintained a focus on affordable rentals (about 2,400 units in its portfolio across 60 communes) while using sales selectively to promote social mix in large projects.
