The government has scheduled a steel tripartite meeting for 20 March after unions and the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party demanded urgent talks. Reports say ArcelorMittal is considering shifting 1,150 jobs from Luxembourg. Labour Minister Marc Spautz and Economy Minister Lex Delles will attend. Prime Minister Luc Frieden has urged the company to keep jobs in the country.

Meanwhile, two experts from the CGDIS are in Madagascar after Cyclone Gezani. Deployed via the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, they will support communications for rescue teams.

Property prices have fallen by up to 30 percent since 2022, with stricter lending rules slowing sales.

Around 50,000 Muslims in Luxembourg began Ramadan, while many Christians entered Lent ahead of Easter.
