Interior Minister Léon Gloden defended Spain’s response to the mass border crossing in Ceuta and rejected calls to weaken Schengen rules, noting that no migrants reached mainland Spain or entered the border-free area.

Three Montenegrin men were reportedly convicted after obtaining residence permits with false employment certificates and diplomas. The broader investigation involves suspected corruption, document forgery, subsidy fraud, money laundering and migrant smuggling.

At the Cattenom nuclear plant, only one reactor remains operational after EDF shut another unit because exceptionally low Moselle water levels were affecting cooling. Similar conditions also forced two reactor shutdowns at the Chooz plant.
