EU Commissioner Roxana Mînzatu has vowed to eradicate poverty in 25 years as the Commission unveiled its first major anti-poverty strategy. The strategy has no dedicated budget and relies mainly on recommendations. The plan comes as some 92.7 million people face poverty or social exclusion across the 27 member states. So far, the Commission has managed to help only 3.7 million of the 15 million target for 2030. The strategy focuses on children, social and affordable housing, stronger household support and homelessness prevention. NGOs warn the lack of binding measures risks undermining its aims.
