About this Episode
France’s National Assembly has approved an assisted dying bill for adults with an incurable, life-threatening illness and unbearable suffering. Psychological suffering alone would not qualify. The Constitutional Council must still examine the law.
Routine land-border controls between Spain and Gibraltar have ended under a new European Union–United Kingdom agreement. Gibraltar will align with the Schengen area, while passport checks will remain for arrivals from outside Schengen through its airport and port.
Iran has threatened to block additional oil and gas routes as the United States carried out new strikes on Iranian military targets. The Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, disrupting tanker traffic and pushing up oil prices.
The European Union and Ukraine have also agreed to expand joint drone production, using European industrial capacity and Ukrainian battlefield experience. Funding will come from European defence and support programmes.
