Creating Through Dementia: The Transformative Power Of “Turtle Song”
How can creating music help people with dementia?
This episode of ‘Dive in with (e)me’ features Charlotte Cunningham and Carolyn von Stumm, artistic and project directors from the Turtle Key Arts. This artistic production centre promotes “many initiatives and implement a series of measures to engage with the most vulnerable and disadvantages parts of society” (Everything Theater).
Charlotte and Carolyn explain in this episode how the project ‘Turtle Song’ started, and why it differs from other projects for people with dementia. Because ‘Turtle Song’ is not only about singing, but is also a creative process and a place for socialisation, it empowers the participants and builds up their confidence.
