About this Episode
Health Minister Martine Deprez and LSAP MP Mars Di Bartolomeo have rejected claims by the Luxembourg Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD) that the politicians spread disinformation about negotiations with the National Health Fund (CNS). The AMMD says it did not walk away from talks and was willing to sign a convention if the legal framework changed. Di Bartolomeo countered that by stepping out of the convention the AMMD effectively withdrew from the process and should rejoin negotiations. The AMMD also accused Deprez of pressuring them by suggesting the CNS could negotiate with another association, a point Deprez disputes—saying she only outlined legal options and that any replacement must meet statutory representativeness criteria. Deprez noted the AMMD still participates in five working groups and urged constructive progress.
LSAP MP Liz Braz criticised the government’s poor crisis communication over recent drone incidents, urging that defence and internal-affairs committees be properly informed. She condemned the current tax reform for favouring high earners over vulnerable households. Braz backed Health Minister Martine Deprez in the AMMD–CNS dispute, calling the doctors’ demands excessive and warning patients suffer from stalled talks. She criticised rising costs on public projects like the Mondercange velodrome and demanded clearer expense breakdowns. Braz denied rumours of switching parties and confirmed she will resign from Esch council in December as she plans to move to Luxembourg City, leaving open a possible future Centre candidacy.
Grand Duke Guillaume urged the UN General Assembly to place young people at the centre of global decision‑making, saying trust, responsibility and encouragement would unlock their potential. Speaking in French and English, he warned that rising distrust—exacerbated by Russia’s war against Ukraine and rapid technological change—threatens international cooperation and peace, and called for reform of institutions like the Security Council to restore credibility. Guillaume highlighted Luxembourg’s support for UN youth initiatives and urged active youth participation in politics.Â
