Depression was the leading cause of work absenteeism among Luxembourg residents in 2025, accounting for 17.5 percent of certified sick-leave days. The number of people receiving antidepressants, anxiety medication or sedatives has increased over the past decade, particularly among younger people. Around two-thirds of those treated are women.
Employees of Luxembourg’s central bank will participate in a 12-month digital euro pilot beginning in the second half of 2027. The trial will test payments and technical features in a controlled environment before any possible public introduction. Findel Airport expects around 5.7 million passengers this year. Additional staff, renewed information screens, electronic gates and a liquids-preparation area have been introduced to ease congestion. Planned expansions will increase the airport apron’s capacity from 27 to 53 aircraft, while passenger numbers could exceed 10 million annually by 2050.
