Black History Month Luxembourg 2025 launched on Saturday September 27 at a venue in Hollerich, and the program as organized by One People Luxembourg, features a host of activities including film screenings, documentaries, exhibitions, readings, music displays and showcases, workshops and conferences. Many guests come in from neighbouring European countries to take part of the event and deliver notable lectures, one of such guests is Amzat Boukari-Yabara.

Amzat was born in July 1981 in Cotonou and discovered Pan-Africanism as detailed by Kwame Nkrumah in 1997 while on a family stay in Ghana. Influenced by Martinician poets, writer and politician Aime Cesaire, he completed his baccalaureate in Paris and went on to obtain a master,s degree in modern Brazilian history from Sorbonne University. Amzat has done extensive research over the years covering the life of Walter Rodney, and topic combining history, anthropology, economics, geopolitics and political philosophy.

Notably the Patron of the first ever Black History Month Luxembourg 2023, Amzat visits from Paris to give a lecture at the University of Luxembourg on Friday October 10, 2025 as part of this year’s celebration. He stopped by the studio to share his insights on today’s episode of the Nubian Lounge with Hembadoon.
