About this Episode
I am Marina Khomutova and this is a radio show ARA RUSSIA for peace.
Today I’m joined by Sveta Ben – frontwoman of the legendary freak-cabaret band Silver Wedding, theatre director, poet and singer whose songs have been heard from Vitebsk to Berlin.
We caught up just before her concert in Luxembourg this July. Sveta calls herself an “environmental researcher” – she only does things that make life around her a little easier to bear. She believes she carries every side of humanity inside her – from the awful to the amazing – and describes her art as “stand-up wrapped in music.”
In our talk we covered:
– how puppet theatre kicked off her musical path;
– why Silver Wedding stopped playing;
– life and creativity in Berlin, and her album Pryom!;
– the power of vulnerability, and why art sometimes needs silence.
🎧 Tune in for songs, stories and thoughts you’ll remember long after the show.
Today, my guest is And of course, we’ll be listening to some of her most powerful and beloved songs. Stay with us!
