July this year is packed with major sporting events like no other month. The World Cup has just concluded, the prestigious Tour de France is in full swing, and the Olympic Games are set to open in Paris next week.
Luxembourg will be represented by 13 athletes. There could have been 14 – our compatriot Veronika Goncharova was just one step away from qualifying for the Olympics. She will certainly participate in the next one.
Veronika is the Sports Director of the Luxembourg Fencing Federation and a master of foil fencing. She is a bronze medalist in the Russian Championship and has participated in all regional tournaments in Luxembourg, winning all the medals.
Besides her impressive administrative career and sporting achievements, Veronika Goncharova is also an active coach at the Luxembourg Fencing Club.
