Three men walk into a radio studio. This may sound suspiciously like the beginning of a joke, but it is in fact merely the beginning of a radio show. Two of the gentlemen are in their mid-fifties, which puts them comfortably above Luxembourg’s average age of a mere 43. The third gentleman is still in his thirties and is therefore, scientifically speaking, practically a child.
What makes this edition of The Music That Made Us particularly interesting is just how different the music was that shaped each of three three DJs. Apparently, people can reach roughly the same destination in life while taking completely different musical roads — some of them considerably noisier than others.
Although the show repeatedly refers to this as the sixth edition of the special, it is, in reality, only the fifth. Lex can definitely count to three. Whether he can successfully continue all the way to five remains a matter of considerable debate among mathematicians, philosophers and certain members of the Luxembourgish scientific community.
So sit back and enjoy this typically August edition of Cosmic Trigger. Instead of the usual parade of exciting new discoveries, we shall be wallowing shamelessly in nostalgia, gazing misty-eyed into the past and remembering a time which, several decades later, seems absolutely wonderful.
Was it really?
Probably not.
But that has never stopped nostalgia before.
