About this Episode
In the first hour of Cosmic Trigger, an interview with the new Luxembourgish hip hop formation Zielstrebaz42 was on the schedule. Although our new freelance contributor Nikos had prepared the interview thoroughly, it could not be carried out as planned. If you are into chaos, please enjoy a slightly shortened (or censored) version of the interview.
The second hour proceeded in a far more civilized manner. Obi had recorded an interview in advance with the Brussels band Spout Big Space. Musically, they do not fit neatly into any one category, which makes their music far more exciting than that of many of their peers. Garage punk is certainly the foundation. Post-punk and grunge are also clearly present, something that can be heard in the partially and quite deliberately damaged-sounding melodies. To conclude, one might also add a touch of dark wave and lo-fi, resulting in a rather colourful mixture overall.
Afterwards, a few more songs were played for special reasons, for example Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons following the death of the former Motörhead guitarist, as well as Zwakkelmann, whose bandleader Schlaffke was celebrating his 60th birthday that day. Our warmest congratulations!
