International Animal Rights Conference 2025: Voices, Visions & Future Perspectives
From September 4–7, 2025, the annual International Animal Rights Conference took place at the Kulturfabrik in Esch/Alzette. Under blue skies and late-summer sunshine, visitors experienced a diverse program that was as informative as it was inspiring.
Lex was on site, recording sessions and interviewing key speakers who brought powerful perspectives to the stage:
- Priscila Gulic highlighted Slovenia’s progress towards an advanced animal protection law.
- Georg from Ariwa (Animal Rights Watch) gave insight into the mission of his organization.
- Tobias Leenaert (Belgium) shared progressive strategies on how to engage more people with the animal rights movement.
- Timea Kovacs (Camp Beagle, UK) spoke about her fight to free dogs from research laboratories.
- Jen Deighan Schenk (We The Free) explained how impactful video campaigns can reach and mobilize thousands.
- Associazione Sparta (Italy) presented innovative approaches to managing and caring for stray cats.
- Martin Smedjeback (Sweden) made the case that uncovering abuse in animal farming justifies bold action.
In closing, conference organizer Heiko Weber reflected on the event’s success and offered a glimpse of what’s ahead for the movement.
