About this Episode
Rarely has the title “Iwwer Gott an d’Welt” been as fitting as in the edition of January 13th, 2026.
This time, there was no guest interview. Instead, the show turned into an in-depth conversation between two AHA members, Bob Reuter and Tanja Frank, who quite literally discussed everything under the sun — from God to the world around us.
At the heart of the discussion was a fundamental question: what role can humanism and secular values still play in a society that seems to be growing more radicalised by the day?
Humanism, they argued, should ideally be seen as a default — a universal value system. And while life in Western Europe remains relatively stable, there is an increasing number of voices here as well that place patriotism and nationalism above all else.
Another major topic was the idea of civil ceremonies as meaningful alternatives to religious rituals. Celebrating the birth of a child, marking a wedding, or commemorating the death of a loved one should also be possible in a secular framework. Over the past two years, AHA has gathered extensive information in this field and intends to continue developing and supporting these alternatives in the future.
The final part of the programme focused on AHA’s current activities. The organisation is now strongly present on public radio — not only through the monthly show Iwwer Gott an d’Welt, but also via appearances on RTL with Carte Blanche and on 100,7 with Fräie Mikro.
The clear highlight of the year was the Humanists International annual congress, held from July 4th to 6th, 2025, in Luxembourg’s Kirchberg district. A particular point of pride was the signing of the Declaration on Artificial Intelligence in Luxembourg.
AHA is determined to remain active and engaged in the future.
