In June 2020, facing financial collapse, we began fighting for independent information through political forums, street protests, and on-air campaigns, eventually making our financial crisis public and gaining immense support from listeners and the Ministry of Media. Over the past year, donations and a new agreement with the Ministry stabilized our finances, allowing us to pay journalists and restart projects. However, the lack of legal recognition for community media in Luxembourg means our agreement is temporary, and we need to find funding and support from outside. Since its foundation, Radio ARA has been largely funded by listener contributions, ensuring its independence as a community-financed project. Supporting Radio ARA helps implement cultural integration projects, train students and volunteers in media practices, and enhance offerings from our participative radio, which includes volunteers, freelancers, journalists, associations, and artists. This year’s Crowdfunding Campaign 2024 spans several months and includes various events that we either participate in or organize ourselves. It began with the Urban History Festival and the 25h Live Schülerradio, continued with the OutsideBroadcast (July 19th to September 6th), and features additional events organized by Radio ARA. Donations collected will primarily be used to upgrade our technical equipment, website, and other essential tools for the entire radio station.
